A tilt-tray sorter uses individual mechanical trays mounted on a continuous loop track. As a tray reaches its targeted destination chute, it pivots or tilts vertically to allow gravity to smoothly deposit the parcel into the chute. This design is exceptionally effective for soft packages, woven sacks, and irregular parcels up to 10 kg that might otherwise jam standard belt sorters.
By combining both systems into a dual-deck matrix, standard rigid packages (under 5 kg) are routed to the high-speed cross-belt sorter (achieving up to 48,000 items/hour), while soft, heavy, or oddly-shaped parcels are directed to the tilt-tray sorter.
